In his new solo piece, a satirical one-man show titled “GLEICH,” Alfred Dorfer—as we’ve come to expect from him—elegantly slips in and out of a wide variety of characters in rapid succession. On stage, we see not only grandmothers and innkeepers, but also bears, carp, and sunflowers. In “GLEICH,” a story is told through numerous narrative and temporal digressions. Should we take what we see at face value? The temporal planes blur into one another, as do poetry and wordplay, philosophy and imagination.

The mental acrobat Alfred Dorfer is legendary for his biting humor and his merciless gaze, and through his distinctive performance style, he has found a personal style that many consider incomparable. This opinion was shared by the jury members of the German Cabaret Award, the German and Bavarian Cabaret Awards—all of which he has won—as well as the Swiss Cabaret Award “Cornichon.” He also has experience as an actor, author, director, and longtime late-night talk show host.
