Freedom Ballett - Wien - 2026

Wiener Stadthalle - Halle F, Wien

Do you like to peek?

What if you were invited to peek through the keyhole of a mysterious cabinet that holds other people’s secrets and personal stories?
And what if, while watching others, you suddenly saw yourself?
How would you feel if, as you watched the events unfold, you saw your own secrets, fears, revelations, memories, and unfulfilled dreams?
Realize right away—“the wardrobe is not what it seems…”

“The Wardrobe” is far more than just a dance piece.
It is a complete theatrical experience with a fascinating beginning and a captivating finale, in which every scene guides the audience along the emotional ladder of life. Through the language of perfect physical expression, the dancers reflect on the nature of time and space, and on the blurring boundaries between love and passion.

All that remains for the audience is to feel…
Lena Kolyadenko, the longtime artistic director of the legendary Ukrainian ballet “Freedom” and director of this production, transforms the exploration of an object as simple as a wardrobe into an existential journey through the labyrinths of the human soul. The best thing “The Wardrobe” can do for us is to open its bottomless mirror, into which the audience gazes almost by chance and… sees themselves. Perhaps this is the only way to change a person—to change the world…

The performance is intended for an adult audience (16+), for people with life experience, and was created to work with pure human emotions:
joy, sadness, fear, dreams, disappointment, admiration…

Performance duration: 1 hour and 40 minutes, including an intermission.
