Thomas Mraz - MRAZ F1RST! - Orpheum Wien - 2027

Orpheum Wien, Wien

That’s the example set for us—in politics, on social media, and in the kindergarten WhatsApp group. We live in a society full of winners, where everyone wants to be first—no, must be first. Anyone who comes in second has already lost, been left behind, fallen by the wayside.

These forces are at work on Thomas Mraz as well, and so his motto is now: MRAZ FIRST!
Yet he has rarely—very rarely—actually never—been first at anything.

It’s high time that Mraz, in his first solo show, confronts his big questions: Is he aiming to become president of the community garden association? Is he opening his own hot dog stand, exactly as he remembers it from back in the day? Is he old enough to apply for the “corridor pension”? Is he a well-traveled cosmopolitan or a working-class guy from Favoriten? Or perhaps both?

And most importantly: Is he really just as selfish as everyone else?
