On the second evening of the 2027 Vienna Cabaret Festival, two sharp-witted perspectives on our fast-paced everyday lives come together—with a double bill and double the laughs in the Arkadenhof of Vienna City Hall.

Angelika Niedetzky kicks things off with “SOKOmisch”: Everything is getting faster, more fleeting, and more exhausting—but what actually makes us happy? Is it AI—or rather, “No Intelligence”—alcohol, and a Porsche Cayenne, or is it more like slow food, detox, and monogamy? Between these two extremes, everything is permitted and accepted today, yet people still talk about everyone and everything. Since laughter is, as we all know, the best medicine, that’s exactly what we’ll be doing this evening—whether we want to or not—and let people keep talking. Afterward, Monica Weinzettl and Gerold Rudle take the stage with “Statisten des Wahnsinns”: For decades, they’ve been reliable barometers of relationship madness, and they’ve observed that the madness of marriage has long since become fully automated, leaving us all as mere extras in our own digital daily lives—caught between online ads before our first cup of coffee and the “Office for Domestic Compliance.”

Two shows, one common thread: the madness of modern life amid self-optimization, algorithms, and smart home appliances that supposedly know more about us than we do ourselves. Sharp, grounded in everyday life, and highly relatable for anyone who’s ever suspected that their vacuum cleaner is eavesdropping on them and their refrigerator is tattling on them to the doctor. An evening that shows: Life has long since become an app—and we’ve all forgotten the password.
