Wiener Rathaus - Arkadenhof, Wien

When Viktor Gernot takes the stage, a mild summer evening in the arcaded courtyard of Vienna City Hall transforms into an intimate encounter with more than 40 years of show business experience, making it the perfect opening to the Vienna Cabaret Festival 2027.

On Monday, July 19, 2027, Viktor Gernot will open the festival in the City Hall Arcades with his new solo show, “Songs & Stories.” Accompanying himself on piano, guitar, and bass, he guides the audience through an evening filled with songs about life and love. In between, he shares stories and reflections on a career spanning jazz, musicals, and lifelong friendships, revealing both the triumphs and setbacks of more than four decades on stage. A piano, a guitar, probably even two or three if you know Viktor Gernot, and a bass are all that is needed to create an evening that truly touches the heart.

Highlights

This is certainly not a traditional cabaret performance, but rather a highly personal and distinctive personality show. The musical journey spans jazz, traditional pop, and Broadway classics, from original English-language songs and Viktor Gernot's own dialect adaptations to original compositions. Alongside the music come observations and reflections from a long and remarkable career, emceeing, impersonations, and storytelling that is sometimes sentimental, often ironic, and consistently romantic.

A true “Crooner's Night” celebrating love and life, told in a way only Viktor Gernot can. “An Evening with Viktor Gernot” is a unique experience that captivates devoted fans and newcomers alike. Anyone looking to enjoy the magic of musical theatre, the atmosphere of an intimate jazz club, and the sharp wit of Viennese storytelling all in one evening will feel right at home.
