These days, Grieg’s music is often performed only in concert halls. “Morning Mood,” “Åse’s Death,” “Anitra’s Dance,” “In the Hall of the Mountain King,” and “Solveig’s Song” are the pieces best known from the suites. But this evening, we’ll hear nearly all of the stage music Grieg composed.
Three actors, two singers, the choir, and the Volksoper orchestra present a montage based on Ibsen’s text by Peter te Nuyl and Grieg’s music, in which the play condenses, as if in a nightmare, through Peer’s eyes.
