Aschenbrödels Traum - Wiener Volksoper

Composer Martina Eisenreich and author and director Axel Ranisch use the ballet fragment of "Cinderella" by Johann Strauss as the starting point for their completely new fairytale operetta "Cinderella's Dream", which combines ballet and operetta and interweaves several time and plot levels. Cinderella can be seen here not only as a poor seamstress, but also as an ostracized boy who falls in love with a footballer. Johann Strauss and the secret librettist of "Aschenbröde" - Ida Grünwald - also appear, as does the court opera director. The fact that Strauss' monument from Vienna's Stadtpark, of all things, provides a happy ending is a truly fairytale twist.
