From the writers of the hit comedy “Extrawurst” comes a new play about a funeral that spirals completely out of control.
Wolfhardt Steininger, the patriarch of a medium-sized company, has passed away peacefully at the age of 94, and his designated successor, Hubert Zacherl, is organizing the memorial service for the company. But the message on the wreath ribbon he wrote causes quite a stir: “In deep mourning. Your employees.”
Before long, Hubert—the new “old white man” at the helm—finds himself at odds not only with his marketing director, the head of social media, and his secretary, but also with the very self-assured intern. In front of the theater audience—acting as the assembled mourners—the company’s executive suite ultimately tears itself apart more and more in this sharply satirical play. Not even the desperate pastor can calm the storm anymore.
This comedy full of twists and turns takes a sharp look at the abysses, pitfalls, and rhetorical tricks of the current debate on politically correct “gender” and its socially “prescribed” norms of social interaction, but it also uncovers its all-too-human causes, thereby awakening a longing for attentive and respectful interaction with one another.
As with “Extrawurst,” the audience can expect a whirlwind of punchlines. Sophisticated humor and food for thought are guaranteed.
