Info
THOMAS RAAB has been touring Austria with his crime novels (Metzger series, Huber series, STILL) for 18 years, sitting on stages, opening his books - and reading less and less. Because the in-between is simply so much more fun. Free storytelling. Printing stories. The digression. Laughing together. The direct exchange with the audience.
THOMAS RAAB finally fulfills his long-held wish to make this the conceptual core of an evening.
A writer sits on stage, his books lying next to him - and he fails magnificently to read from them. Instead, he tells stories from the sewing box: Of writing and failure, of deleted passages, particularly unsuccessful published sentences, outrageous spelling mistakes... Of embarrassing moments that never made it into the book. Of readings where everything went wrong, of the absurdities of the literary business. Of his time as a teacher at a Viennese grammar school - and what a math or gym lesson sometimes has in common with a reading... and much more.
VERLESUNG is not a classic reading or a cabaret with a constant stream of gags, but a personal, very funny evening between literature, storytelling and self-exposure.
An evening about the life of an author who never really wanted to be one (dyslexic. German at school: difficult.) and who has nevertheless been on the road for 18 years - with more stories in his luggage than can fit into books.
