The full-length work "Marie Antoinette" tells the story of the dazzling and tragic heroine, a daughter of Empress Maria Theresa, who also wrote French history as the wife of Louis XVI. Malandain's version of this eventful life between pomp and decadence on the one hand, loneliness and melancholy on the other, was premiered in Versailles in 2019, and Maria Antoinette's life in Versailles is also the focus of the ballet, for which Malandain chose music by two of his title character's contemporaries: Joseph Haydn and Christoph Willibald Gluck. A visually stunning ballet with a colorful set.
